Poland Domestic Carriers

Tue Jul 24, 2012 5:02 pm

I'm planning a quick trip around Poland.
Which is the preferred airline?
OLT Express or euroLOT ?

It depends on where you're going. LO has more flights, but O2 is often cheaper, since it's an LCC. Regardless of the carrier, you could either end up on a jet (usually a 737 or an E-series for LOT, an A320 for OLT), or on a prop (ATR-42 or 72 for both).

Also, I should inform you that out of Warsaw, Bydgoszcz, Katowice and Kraków are served exclusively by LOT, while Łódź will be served exclusively by OLT (starting October 29).

Haven't flown domestically around Poland (trains are much cheaper), but K2 (euroLOT) is all right, and mainline LO is pretty good in international. I've wanted to try O2, but never got to doing it.

Thanks, Akiestar.
I'm arriving WAW on KL.
Then to GDN.
Then GDN to KRK. Non-stop, not via WAW.
Then KRK to WAW, and KL to AMS.

WAW-GDN is doable on LO, K2 and O2.

GDN-KRK is doable on K2 and O2. Not sure if O2 serves this route with jets, but LO serves it exclusively with props (since euroLOT operates props).

KRK-WAW is doable on LO and K2 (LO operated by K2). There are a number of flights between Warsaw and Kraków. However, the train can be just as competitive as the plane (the fastest is 2.5 hours) and much more convenient, unless you're flying KRK-WAW-AMS on the same day.

Yes, with 319/320.

Thanks for your help.

This route is flown and operated by SPRINTAIR POLAND on behalf of LOT, a nice SAAB 340 ride! A MUST do!

In other news, OLT Express Poland went bankrupt! Hopefully you haven't booked any tickets yet...

What ever happened to Central Wings? I remember flying them somewhere in Poland several years ago. A pleasant experience from what I remember, on a 734 IIRC.

They were basically shut down & rebranded as "LOT Charters".

As debonair pointed out, OLT Express are bankrupt. So that leaves LOT and euroLOT...

cheers, Sveinn
Nothing compares to taking off in an empty 757 with full thrust!
