Which LAX Lounge To Use? *A Gold Member

Tue Jul 31, 2012 11:08 pm

Hey everyone,

I'm Premier Gold with the new United and my fiancee and I are headed to Thailand on Air China. We fly LAX-PEK-HKT-PEK-SFO-DEN and are so excited about it!

My question: we have 3-4 hours to kill at LAX before our LAX-PEK flight so which lounge can/should we use? I assume that because we have an international ticket with a *A carrier, we can use the UA Red Carpet Club, but could we use a different airlines' lounge? Does Air China have a lounge and, if so, is it worth checking out?

Any help you could provide would really be appreciated. You can shoot me a personal message or post on here if you like.

Thanks,

Barton

Air China is in T-2, so you cannot enter T-7 to access the Red Carpet Lounge.

Air China contracts to use the Air Canada lounge in T-2.

Okay, Air Canada usually has a pretty nice product. Have you used their lounge? What can I expect?

Thanks for your help LAXIntl

If you don't like the food in the AC lounge, check out Nate'n Al's Deli downstairs. It is a branch of a long established Beverly Hills deli. Avoid Wolfgang Puck.

AC's lounge ok. Its been redone in recent years with a rather modern decor. Not the largest, but it has decent views of the ramp and runway.

Definitely prefer the NZ lounge over the AC lounge at T-2 - it's much larger, more stylish and has much more extensive food and beverage offerings (AC had 1 broken coffee machine the last time I was there)

The AC longe is ok, but I rather would go to the NZ lounge !

You can not use any other lounge at LAX as you have to go through security as all lounges are post security!

BTW, the Red Carpet Club and Star Alliance Gold Lounge suck anyway !

The NZ lounge might not be open for the CA departure. Which flight are you taking? The noon, or 2am flight?

As I recall the hours of the NZ lounge are about 1pm-11pm.

Star has a consolidated large joint lounge at TBIT.

Thanks everyone - we'll definitely use the Air New Zealand lounge. On my trip to New Zealand a few years back I used the ANZ lounge in Auckland and was blown away! Awesome food, great wine/drink selection, courteous staff, nice showers, and they were even giving out free massages from a local Vietnamese company.

I won't expect all of that from their lounge at LAX but still, I'm sure it's nice. ANZ simply exudes quality.

NZ lounge open 1330-2300. Probably wont do much good for CA departures.

Star Alliance announced a couple of days ago that they're building a new lounge at the LAX Bradley terminal. It's scheduled to open in May 2013.The project is being led by NZ which is moving from T2 to the Bradley terminal in 2014. It will serve the 8 Star Alliance carriers using the Bradley terminal.
