I booked a flight recently and I realized that in the almost 1000 flights in my life, I never had an itinerary like this one: A long, 9 hour flight, then a short 1 hour flight to connect to another long, almost 11 hour flight. In all the multi segment flights I've done in my life, it was always long flight(s) followed or preceded by short flights, but never a short flight sandwiched between two very long flights.
Im my case, I'm flying from Miami to Bangkok on a UA
mileage award, and the way it came up was transatlantic MIA
on Lufthansa, then a short DUS
hop on LH
, then FRA
on Thai's new A380.
I suspect that this is a typical phenomenon of a mileage award that I never would have gotten if I had booked a regular ticket for money.
Have you ever had an itinerary like this?
