VX & F9 Need To Coop Their FF Programs W A Major

Thu Aug 16, 2012 3:07 pm

I often have the opportunity to provide corporate clients with either VX or F9 as an option in their routing. Alot of times the price is better and/or the schedule is better, yet sometimes they still deny it and take the worse or more expensive option. As i scratched my head and started asking why? The answer i get usually refers to their points earned with Summit or Elevate not being able to be merged with their massive stacks on DL|UA|US or AA...Just curious if anyone from these two airlines recognizes this and if they have plans to do something about it. B6 has solved this problem to an extent correct?

B6 and AA only earn on specific flights to specific cities and you cannot redeem B8 points on AA or vice versa

Elevate

Accent and Summit are the two top tiers that F9 has. Elevate isn't even a tier.

F9 inked a deal with Icelandair last year. But I do agree with you that F9 really needs to get on the program with the FF codeshares. But Bedford wants an alliance to join. Seems like his priority is out of sync here....

I did not know that as I avoid VX like the plague. However, how the OP wrote it out as if Summit and Elevate was offered by F9, thus not being specific.

Actually i was pretty clear and since you avoid these carriers 'like the plague' i wonder why your even reading about them..Im sure some others who dont hold such 'extreme' hatred for these great airlines that employ thousands of Americans can stick with the original question and offer comments and suggestions of value.

What would UA/DL/AA/US get out of it? They already cover pretty much every market that VX and F9 serve (except for some of the very thin F9 routes) so that would basically be encouraging their customers to fly a competitor and getting nothing in return. I could maybe see F9 and AA hooking up since AA doesn't have a mountain west hub but thats about it.

What are you talking about?! I fly F9 a lot. It's VX I will never fly on.

In addition, VX's Elevate program offers tiers now- Gold and Silver, with various privileges forthwith.
