BA - LHR-LCA Route - Product & Aircraft Type?

Hey Guys

Not sure if there is anyone that can help...

Travelling to Larnaca with British Airways in November, has been booked through Opodo and just states for the aircraft type at "EQV" and that were travelling "Economy Class"...

I think this route has been operated by 767's in the past, or atleast I am sure that is what I saw parked up at LCA when I was departing on a Thomson flight a year or so ago. Just curious if this is still the case?

Is the LHR to LCA route operated with their Long Haul Product with World Traveller class or is it Euro Traveller Class for us peasants in cattle class?

I know routes to the likes of CAI and TLV, which are a similar distance and flight time are/have been operated by 777's and 747's so assume this is a long haul product.

Which ever kinda product it is, and if it is a 763, will they have finished the refurbishment programme to this aircraft type by then?

BA website shows Euro Traveller.

As far as I'm aware this is usually a 767 but its a short haul route.

767 short haul (even occasionally the refurbed Euro 767) with standard Club Europe and Euro Traveller. Some of the Euro 767's are in a right state

Definitely short haul (you may be lucky and get a long haul 767 on a substitution). Short haul band 4 service is offered with drinks, and a hot meal. Overhead screens (if they're working!) will show BBC news, a film, and then TV programming. If you want to watch the screens, DO NOT book a bulkhead seat, I can't remember the last time the tiny bulkhead screens worked. One short haul 767 has been refurbished, and is much nicer, the rest should be completed by Q1 next year.

There are a few reports up on this route:
Africa 7: British Airways LCA-LHR, Business B767 (by gabrielchew Mar 4 2012 in Trip Reports)

Palmjet wrote a good report recently on the BA service.

The 767s are the shorthual ones (unless you get lucky) and are falling apart. The rear Y section has cloth seats, the forward 2/3 of the plane leather. There should be IFE in the form of a film, but the monitors are of very low quality. You'll get a hot meal both ways.

How come BA has allowed their shorthaul B767s to deteriorate this much, cabin wise? I have seen hundreds of A.netters comment on this in various threads. If these B767s are so important in BA's network, why not keep them up to snuff? It's costly to refurbish an aircraft cabin, I know, but dissatisfied customers can be even more costly - especially when your product is perceived to be better than others and turns out not to be...

I prefer the forward section of Y as I find the leather seats nicer and more comfortable.

You'll probably get BA's "Retro" traveller class... as everyone has said above if (and that's a big IF) the over-aisle screens work then a film and short programming will be shown, if not then there's nothing you can do about it. I'd still suggest bringing a book or iPad or something else to keep you amused as you might not want to squint at the screens either.

They're workhorses plain and simple. It's like all 767 operators, they need a refurb (AC did this several years ago, DL are doing it now). If you think those are bad - have you seen the inside of the US 762s... In fact BA haven't been great at keeping interiors fresh (at least not to LH standards) - I mean look at the A319s half the age of the 767s with the seats falling to bits etc... The overall "Product" isn't that bad, you get a full meal they attempt to give you entertainment and the crew should be friendly(ish). You've got Terminal 5 etc it's not just about the state of the interior.

Usually G-BNWX on the LCA run...
think this is the refurbed bird...
ans nearly always from stand 353, although did dep from 338 the other day...
always a 767 tho'

That's possibly a bigger disadvantage compared to the state of the a/c (at least ...for me).
