Transit Cx In CAI - Advice

Thu Oct 04, 2012 12:14 am

I'm turning to the vast a.net group for thoughts on the following:

Considering an Int'l to Int'l cx in CAI. Inbound MS flight from LHR, arrive 4am. Outbound MS flight to LHR at 9am. The transit info is spotty on the CAI website. I am *Gold so I would have lounge access. Both flights should be at T3.

Anyone know if I might expect any transit hassles of questions? I've been to CAI before, but not as transit and before T3 opened.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Quoting planeguy727 (Thread starter):

Very strange routing...

Anyway, Transit is like in any other world class airport- look out for the signs and you will be guided to the Transfer Station. No Problem at all!
One last word, the connection might be world class- the lounge most definitely isn't. So don't expect too much from a *A hub lounge (like showers, fine dining etc.)!

Cant tell you much about the transit process, but I suspect its the standard process of following the signs. You might need to go through security screening again.

I can echo the comments about the MS lounges in T-3. There are something like 3 or 4 of them. Nothing special, a couple are on smallish side. No alcohol (not that MS has any onboard either), minimal food offerings, no showers, spotty wi-fi. I believe the lounge called the "Alioth" is the bigger and most luxury one.

Imo this is actually an embarrassment considering the newness of the facilities and MS stated desire to up its game and develop CAI into a true regional hub.

Thanks folks. I'm less concerned with the lounge issue as I am with the transit hassles that have a reputation at CAI.

Given this is a turn around and return to origin (part of a mileage run) I worry about the Egyptian folks not being all that understanding. When I visited Egypt some years back I had an interesting, if relatively uneventful, experience with CAI. Of course I had prearranged ground transport for my arrival and that smooths things (also pre T3).

Well I guess make the best of it. CAI was never my favorite airport.

Figured I'd give the new terminal a try, but its seems the bureaucracy and little details still make it a less then desirable place even with all the new marble and glass.

I think folks like TK and IST run circles around their Star cousin MS.
