Short Connection At WRO

Wed Nov 07, 2012 9:19 am

Hi,

I'm thinking about flying to WRO in january, I would arrive from WAW at 1535 on LO, then connect to FR with a scheduled departure at 1700. Assuming that FR would start boarding at 1630, would 1h be enough to make it with just a carry-on ?
Thanks

It should be if all you have is a carry-on. Provided you arrive on time, let;ssay you're off the plane and in the terminal by 1600 (depending on what ype of plane you arrive on, Props/regionals deplane faster than a 737), this should give you half an hour to check the monitors and get to your gate before boarding. Easy peasy

I'm sure you know the answer. It might well work, but the slightest issue and you lose your trip. Up to you if you want to risk it, but a very short connection between different carriers is always just going to be a gamble.

Assuming it is a schengen FR flight not an issue, for non-schengen flights there is an additional passport control and you will be cutting close. FR closes their boarding 10 min before scheduled departure.

Keep in mind that Poland is quite snow and ice heavy in winter, and you may have disruptions there.
Also, LO recently made a lot of big schedule changes on Polish domestic flights. I believe this is over now, but expect some changes...

WRO isn't a big airport and almost 90 minutes to make the connection usually will be no problem. But Reifel's comment about weather issues might play a major factor here.
Risking to miss your connection to CRL isn't something to look forward to !

LO3855 is scheduled to be operated by a Q400 on 06-JAN-2013

Poland is not on North Pole and sure there is snow but unless you go to North and East of the country it is usually not a big deal. WRO itself had a moderate climate and even in winter the snow melts same or next day.

The OP would fly in from WAW and, while I have confidence that the local crews are efficient in removing snow & ice, until the WAW to WRO flight is supposed to depart, the aircraft might have accumulated quite some delay after so-an-so many flights that day.

Don't get my wrong, I don't say polish airports are unable to handle snow and ice, actually they are probably well prepared for that. That said, there is a lot of snowfall and this impacts operations somehow in any case. Last winter I was stuck 1 day in KTW because of that. Should be considered as a possible factor. Otherwise I agree that 90 minutes should be no problem.

True, but that can happen anywhere....

Thanks a lot to you all for your advices. The flights being in winter is indeed something to consider here so I'm currently looking for a better / safer option...
