UA 787s Tomorrow (12/21)

Fri Dec 21, 2012 2:28 am

I was booked on the 787 tomorrow from DEN-IAH (UA 1025), and I just checked and it appears they changed it to a 777. Can anyone tell me if I have a chance of getting on a 787 tomorrow on that route, or what happened to this one? I'm about to cry.

Cheers,
Cameron

As per flightaware, it shows a 787.

As per UA's website (probably more reliable), it shows a 772, aircraft #3007. (Was a 764ER today)

Sorry buddy, looks like you're gonna be on a T7

Only in the context of having booked a flight for the 787 would ending up on a 777 be disappointing. :P

That DEN-IAH run seems to be the hardest to actually get the 787 on, anecdotally speaking.

This is what I am seeing in the computer system as well. The best bet for flying a 787 is EWR - IAH or IAH - LAX or SFO. Those 787 are pretty much guaranteed. It looks like the 787 is not showing to return to that route until the 23rd, which is as well subject to change. If you have the time call and rebook. Be friendly and explain to them the situation they are likely to waive any rebooking fees.

Sorry to hear this for you. I was lucky and caught ship 902 on Tuesday from DEN to IAH. We were actually on time and the crew said it was one of the very few flights that have not been delayed. This was the bird that diverted to MSY as well and my flight was only the 22 nd flight it has flown. I think I was VERY lucky as the big snow storm hit the next day so I am sure that it disrupted schedules. I thought it strange that after my flight the ac sat in IAH over 24 hours before it's next turn which was to LAX.
Landing on every Continent almost on an annual basis!

I feel ya. At least you got a day's notice though. Both my 787 flights were subbed out within a couple hours of departure.

You indeed were lucky. I was scheduled to be on #902 to DEN the next day. Like you said it sat in IAH all day and right before departure was swapped out for a 764. #902 bit me twice in one trip.

The snow slowed things up in DEN, but most flights were operating normally.

Yeah. Thanks for the sympathies, all. I'm sure we can all relate to each other when stuff like this happens. I wound up canceling my trip and booked myself back home on AS, so I still get AAdvantage miles.

Another time!

Until I'm absolutely 100% positive, I'm going to shy away from booking and flying on her. The disappointment would be crushing!

They subbed it on me a month ago IAH-EWR and I had booked that route heading to DUB. You can imagine my disappointment seeing a 764 while boarding coz it was a last-minute sub. Ooh well, I am hoping to fly her to NRT in Feb.
If you're going through hell, keep going

I caught #906 IAH-SFO on Wednesday. It had a 30minute "mechanical" delay before departure from ORD on the inbound, so I was nervous they'd pull it out at IAH, but whatever it was they fixed, because there was no visible crew working on during the 4-hour layover at IAH.

We left IAH 40min late, supposedly because of "cargo loading", but not sure if I believe that given there were minimal delays elsewhere in the system (and I saw UA use "cargo loading" as an excuse for a flight yesterday that was definitely mechanical).

I'm just happy I got to ride it! Flight was awesome -- very comfortable.

I was subbed as well on DEN to IAH. United was kind enough to put me on a nonstop to ATL so at least less time was wasted. It happens. Will try again.

My best friend was your Captain and he missed golf today, at least you got in just about on time after a late arrival to DEN from IAH. I was told they put in a cost index of 250 into the FMC and the were moving along at .85........nice clear day to fly!
