IAH To CCU

Sat Jan 19, 2013 6:15 pm

Hello:

I am thinking forward to July regarding a trip to Kolkata from Houston. I have done this on BA (does not fly CCU anymore), SIA, and EK. I am debating between SIA and EK right now, but I am quite open to other options as well. Which one do you suggest? Long layover durations doesn't bother me, and a route with more comfort (low turbulence) is preferred.

Thank you!

If you go with SIA wouldn´t you have to backtrack a long way?

Yes, when I flew on it in Dec 2010, it went right over and past Kolkata, and then after a long layover in SIN, we took a brand new A330 from SIN-CCU.

To be honest, unless you are flying F and have access to lounges etc. backtracking 4 hrs after flying 20 plus a layover sounds grueling.

I once had to do MEX-FRA-EZE for work, in F, and it´s not something I would like to do again.

Well, Turkish is starting service to IAH this summer, though I do not know if they fly CCU from Istanbul.

Qatar serves IAH to Doha and then has non-stops to CCU.

LH goes via FRA and Mumbai so that is two stop, but so is SIA with the DME and SIN stops.

I've heard good things about Qatar up front.

It is SQ. Just booked a flexi fare, just in case plans change. Couldn't let go of the great prices.
