Cheapest Flight Based Per Hours Divided By Cost

Sun Jan 20, 2013 11:40 pm

Hi All,

Was wondering what route of flight on averages has the lowest cost of flight, based on the number of hours traveled, most likely would be non-stop flights but can appreciate connections if the price is consistent all months

I was looking online via Kayak, and saw a flight between

Moscow, Russia to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Russia (UUS) and pricing was averaging around $130-$350 USD per person with taxes included for all months of the year, being that this flight was 8.5 hours of flying.

I gauged the cost per hour of flight time was from $15- $40 per hour , wanted to know if there are other routes that have a low cost per hour of flight time.

thanks

Probably one of the .99 fares by Ryanair that have so many restrictions and complications that they are never that price, but theoretically you can fly for just taxes.
If you have never designed an airplane part before, let the real designers do the work!

There were plenty of $800 RT fares from the Eastern USA to China in the 2000s. It depends how the yields are doing. But, that is 30 hours of flying for $800, or $26.66 per hour.

Edit: You can still do a DCA-PVG trip for $1000 this spring, if you pick dates.

I've taken many Ryanair flights around the £1/hour mark, including all taxes and charges. I'd say my average fare with them is around £10/hour.

Thanks to Alitalia's somewhat irregular booking system throwing up ultra cheap tickets I've had a number of longhaul trips around the £3-4/hour mark. Still got several more to come for around the £7/hour mark.
