Is The Atlantic Turbulent on Jan 27th?

Sun Jan 27, 2013 8:45 pm

Hi,
my brother in law flies MIA-CDG tonight. He is a very nervous traveller and he asked me to check if his flight is supposed to be smooth or bumpy.
Thanks!

There's a pretty strong jetstream that will probably make for a quick flight. It could be a little bumpy in places but the jetstream does look pretty constant which might keep things a bit smoother.

Unfortunately a few bumps across the Atlantic at this time of year are almost inevitable, but there's nothing to suggest anything nasty
So long 701, it was nice knowing you.

ok,thanks. I tried turbulenceforecast.com, but the map they show is less understandable for a newbie. I loved their red/Yellow maps.

Not sure if your brother-in-law is on AFR or AAL this evening but the planned routes for both are fairly similar. WSI is forecasting three areas of turbulence along the planned routes. The first area to the north of BDA is forecast to be light. The second area is south-southeast of New Foundland, and also light. The third and final area will be from around coast-in on the French coast through the descent into CDG. That area is forecast for light and occasional moderate. All in all, other than a few bumps here and there it should be a pretty smooth flight.

Although a diff route, flew JFK-CDG last night on Air France and flight was smooth as heck, albeit very short! We did not hit any chop until top of descent into CDG.
Some see lines, others see between the lines.
