The hotel isn't all that far so it only takes about ten-fifteen minutes depending on traffic. There may be a queue at immigration but if you are travelling in First or Business EK
should give you a pass for the priority lanes. (At least they did the last time I had a long transfer but you may need to ask the cabin crew if it doesn't come automatically.) The hotel is comfortable enough and a bed is going to be more relaxing than trying to rest on a chair in the Lounges in DXB
. Besides, you will be able to freshen up without worrying about whether a shower is available for use.
Staying at the airport for ten hours could become tiring because even the most enthusiastic lounge lizard may need a bit more stimulation than watching the comings and goings of other passengers. Besides, there is only so much food and drink you can take in to help time pass. While there are huge duty-free shopping areas you will not need a lot of time to scan the offers. The other thing is that the terminals at DXB
are not really the best for spotting. There is a lot of glass but it is decorated and there is a lot of other visual barriers that make it difficult to get decent shots of the aircraft.
The pick up time for the transfer from the hotel to the airport will be advised to you and you should still have plenty of time to sample shopping and the lounges before boarding. So you may as well get the best of both worlds: a bed and the lounge.
