TG 744 Back On The BKK-LHR Route?

Mon Mar 11, 2013 11:00 pm

Searching for flights later on this year and both TG flights to London and back (910/911/916/917) are all showing as being operated by the 747SP, as opposed to the usual A346. Has Thai decided to start using the 747SP again for any specific reason? Or is it purely because pax numbers are increasing. Or maybe because they are starting A388 service to LHR soon?

Anyone have any more insight?

Cheers.

Thai doesn't even operate any 747SPs, so it definitely won't be on one of those.

Aircraft swap. Assume due to schedule planning. 346 going to FRA, MXP and FCO for S13 schedule.

It looks like LHR is going to receive the 74N with the upgraded First Class cabin

What's a 747ASP?

Some sort of internal designation at Thai?

Its not an official TG abbreviation. Internal TG codes are 7441, 7442 etc.

In the GDS following codes have been used so far:
74R - full cabin upgraded with IFE in Y, newer C with 40 seats and F with 10 seats)
744 - updated C (40 seats) and F (10 seats) to the newer product but no PTV in Y
747 - old configuration with no IFE in Y and old C with 50 seats and F with 14 seats.
74N - full cabin upgraded with IFE in Y, newer C with 40 seats and latest F upgraded, with only 9 seats

747 are supposed to be gone within this year and be upgraded to 74N
