British Airways (BA) Premium Economy

Sun Mar 17, 2013 2:27 am

Last november I traveled London- Miami onboard a 777 on the World Traveler plus (premium economy) and it was a very pleasant experience.
I am trying to book a flight to London from Miami again but this time it is on a 747 (both legs). Would I have the same experience than with the 777?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

I think you would find the same level of service on a 747 as on a 777.

In fact you might find that the Y+ cabin area is smaller on the 747 than it is on the 777.

I think the 777s have up to 44 Y+ depending on whether its 772 or 773 whilst the 747s have a max of 36 Y+ seats - so you might feel the 747 provides a slightly more exclusive feel for Y+ than the 777.

THANK YOU !

I was concerned on the age of the 747's and to pay for a Premium economy not as good as the 777's...

Our last BA 747 Y+ was the same journey as you are taking, and it was fine. I loved the extra space.

Same as above... the new World Traveller Plus seats are also being installed, but as far as I understand the aircraft with these seats already on are very few and far between... Otherwise you will have the same experience you get on a 777 with the only difference that some 747s have a single seat on the window of the first row of WT+ (which is nice if you travel alone).

Enjoy your flight

- Best seat in the house if travelling in WTP, these can be found in the 70 J config planes.

Thank you everyone for your answers.
I am a devoted Oneworld member, loyal to AA, but there is a huge difference between British and American on international flights and my experience with British has been very positive.

In 2011 I flew WTP LHR-SAN (777) and MEX-LHR (744). Both have 2x4x2 seating, so the 744 will feel a bit more spacious than the 777. In terms of the seat/product, they are the same.

There are some slight differences in service depending on if you get a high or a low number of J seats. On a low-J plane, the WTP is in front of Club, meaning you can disembark before them (and use their toilet, and steal from the Club Kitchen).

You also get fabulous views:

However, there is also only 1 crew member dedicated to the cabin, so sit on the left had side for faster service.
