Something Up At Kphx?

Sat Apr 20, 2013 9:37 pm

Sitting at gate A3 of KPHX, everything seemed normal. A few minutes ago, an announcement came on the P.A.:

"Ladies and gentlemen at the gate, we are still not sure just what's going on... It's going to be another ten or fifteen minutes... For the tower to let us know exactly what is going on."

So, I guess that means something is going on? Anyone been listening to ATC have any idea what it might be?

Thanks!

Disregard this -- they clarified that they were talking about an equipment delay on one particular flight. Not "tower" / traffic related.

Ramp ops for US is located in the small tower on top of the N2 (low A) concourse. Generally this is what agents are referring to when they say "tower."

Tiny, unreadable text leaves ample room for interpretation.

Not a very professional announcement. Even without having details, I would have attempted to make a better announcement than that.

"Ladies and Gentlemen. There will be a delay on this flight due to technical issues in our Tower. We will hopefully have additional info, in approximately 15 mins. Thank you. "

I guess Im just being picky, or a pompous a** . I have a thing about unprofessional announcements.
