What Airports Have The Longest Walkways?
I was wondering what airports have the longest walkways? Past or present. The old YYZ T2 comes to mind and I saw a MIA AA terminal pic that looked like a long walk.

I think he is talking about horizontal escalators? If so, those 4 in the United tunnel at O'Hare feel pretty long.

Gatwick is most definitely up there, Heathrow as well. The bridge linking terminal 1 & 2 at Manchester is a pretty long walk.

Lot's of walking in FRA. The tunnel between terminals is the longest I can think of in Europe.

IAD Terminal A-B is a pretty long walk. At a quick pace it takes me about 20 mins to walk end to end with my bags. Makes for great exercise when you're sitting airport reserve as a flight attendant.

The old DTW... was it the C-concourse for the Davey Terminal? I think it was. The layout was as such. Now, NW had the Davey Terminal and you had to check in there. But that terminal had Concourses C through G dedicated. A and B were for all other airlines not NW.
So the deal was that you had to check in to where it says "Davey Terminal." If your flight was at the end of Concourse C, you had to walk all the way. It was just a hodgepodge of different buildings that had been added on to each-other over the years, so it was this really ugly "temporary structure" sort of 60's-70's nastiness. It made STL look like a wonder of modern architecture. And, of course, there was no train, no moving walkways, nothing. So you just had to walk. I was about 24 at the time it closed and I remember once it took me about 20 minutes to walk to the end of Concourse C from Security.

My thoughts are that the tunnel from the railway station to T1 and T3 are the longest walks that I have seen although the T2 walk from the domestic to international arrivals at DTW is also a long walk although I usually like the train to get me from one end to the other.
Also at AMS there seems to be a lot of walking involved but I don't really like going to that airport myself unless I am visiting my relatives in Northern Germany which they pick me up as close to the arrivals as they can and they know where to get me.

Arrivals at Gatwick. Enough said. One often has to walk 15-20 minutes to reach immigration from the stand.

The walk to/from the hammerhead (International flights) at YYZ's Terminal 1 and the main portion of the terminal (post security or customs hall) is brutal. They have moving walkways and a rarely operational Thyssen-Krupp high-speed walkway but it's still incredibly long.

If you're talking about walks *without* moving walkways (moving sidewalks?) BWI Concourse D has got to take the cake. From ground-level Gate D34-36 (USAir Express) to the main terminal is easily 3 city blocks -- all while walking uphill (the gradient changes every 100 feet or so) with no moving walkways.
My just-after-midnight walk today from United's Gate D 16 -- through the ticketing lobby -- to the daily parking garage -- with no moving walkways felt about the same. And closing off most of the washrooms for cleaning just in time to meet the arrival of SFO-BWI seemed like cruel and unusual punishment.

NAS. We had to walk 15 minutes from the plane to immigration when we arrrived there due to the construction going on.

The walk between the international gates at YYZ T3 and customs has always seemed longer to me, and much of it has no moving walkways.

If we define the question as "which airport has the longest walkable indoor distance with no backtracking?", the distance at ATL from the MARTA station at the South/North terminal to the most distant Concourse F gate along the pedestrian walkway (parallel to the Plane Train) would surely be among the longest.

I may not be correct, but after walking through numerous worldwide terminals, DEL s T3 still seems pretty darned long to me, from security check to last gate.

Great posts. I meant a general terminal walk end to end before entering security. Friends told me HKG was a long walk and PEK looks lengthy from pictures.
