Star FF Advice

Tue Apr 23, 2013 9:18 am

Hi all. Need a bit of advice...

I have flights booked with EY and UA this year. I currently have archived miles with UA which I could pay to update (about 12k miles) and as a result am a Mileage Plus member. My question is this...

Am I better off leaving these miles and joining another Star program such as NZ where I can earn miles on the EY flights? Do any Star program's offer status miles for EY flights or is it just destination miles??

Thanks in advance?

Along with NZ, you can also join Asiana or TAP, where you will get miles on EY. I think you can get status miles, but I am not sure.

Membership in Air New Zealand's frequent flier program isn't free (forgot the cost) unless you have a flown business class ticket.

You do not earn status miles on the programs of Asiana, ANA or Air New Zealand when flying Etihad, only award miles.

I don't know of any other Star carrier where you can earn award, let alone status, miles on Etihad.
