LAX Remote Gate Interior

Fri May 03, 2013 7:24 pm

Are there any pictures of the interior of the remote gates at LAX?

I can give you a description. the one time I went through, it was just a walk way ramp up to the entrance of the aircraft. A bus drives the passengers over from the main terminal.

Always wondered how these remote gates worked too. So there's basically only a ramp in those remote buildings? Passengers board at the main terminal just like any other busgate, but instead of being dropped at the aircraft, there are dropped at the remote building and then walk through the building straight into the aircraft? Or is there an additional holding area in these remote gates?

Seems so. They do this at MUC Terminal 1 as well. You exit via Jetbridge, go down stairs, and there a bus is waiting ( in the snow if you are unlucky)

Quoting roberts87 (Reply 3):

All there is is the ramps up to the Plane and no holding area. As you stated, back at the terminal, you are treated like boarding the flight with the ground crew taking your boarding pass and instead of going directly onto the plane, you go onto a bus that brings you over to the remote gate. You exit the bus and enter the ground floor of the remote gate and immediate start walking up the ramp to the entrance of the plane.

So, what's the point of these buildings being there? Sounds like they do the same thing a covered set of stairs could do!

Reminds me of arriving CMH on my one SkyBus flight.
