Well, I don't have a ticket. But my brother and mom each have round trip tickets equating $200 a piece total. I booked them on a WN
flight to MHT
, for $90-100 each way. Then, it did not work out, so we cancelled, and according to WN
, they have $400 to spend. I was looking closely at trips to SFO
, and was encouraging them to make the purchase on the night of the 4th, when tickets were $164 each way, pretty reasonable. They procrastinate, next day, I'm pissed. Tickets went all the way up to $241 each way. I knew they would be paying out of pocket a little for the first option, but now, they would be paying probably $300 more dollars. Besides the tickets, they need a rental, and renting a cheap car is not a bad deal, as I was looking at prices around $150 for a couple days. But also a hotel adds a bit off an expense. But I believe with the vast options of hotels, we could wait to see if bargain rooms are available, but that right now is also on the pricier end. Basically, my question is, should I wait longer for the price to drop on a trip leaving July 25th and returning 29th, or should you assure me that I should remained pissed? Another downer for me is that I heard you can only use these ticket refunds on these passengers. Is that 100% true, or could it switch to a different family member? For future reference, does anyone here fly WN
often? If so, do you purchase wanna get away, or options like business select? And do you act as a FF
member, and redeem your points? Is it something I should look into, even if I fly only a couple times a year? How does it work?
And another segment of questions...Are price changes random on WN
, or for that fact, any carrier? What are they based solely on? I was looking far into this winter to see if fares are any cheaper, and they are not? What's the deal?
I guess I can't blame it on anyone besides me. Should have booked earlier. I could end up just wasting my brother's ticket, who is leaving to go to college in a couple months, and this ticket needs to be used by around February time. A weekend vacation for my mom and him to San Fran currently looks around $1250 range, and I don't think it is worth it. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as they could redeem these savings for an affordable price, while going to his favorite city San Fran before heading off to college.
BTW, I apologize if you feel like this is a weird situation. Just trying my hardest to make use of these tickets, and if I could gain any knowledge on booking flights, I bet I couldn't find it better anywhere else, than here. I have tried to convince him to look at different options for destinations, he appeared to decline, and even when checking different places, i found similar prices to SFO
