Struggling To Get A Registration From A HOP Flight

Sat Jun 15, 2013 7:10 pm

As the title says I hope someone here in the forum has a source to find out for me the a/c registration for flight A5 3482 (HOP) 10.20am-11.35am SXB-MPL on june 5 2013 (wednesday).
It was an EMB-145.
Should be F-????

It happens for the first time that I lost my memo with the registration.
flightradar24 and libhomeradar don´t produce any results ...

Any other source ???

F-GRGG is shown on FlightRadar 24 to have flown the following:

HO482TW seen @ 2013-06-05 08:33 UTC

The matches the time of your flight and although the flight is HOP 3482, the 482 also matches. Many HOP flights seem to exhibit this call sign where only the last three numbers are included along with two seemingly random letters.

Looking at FlightStats, it seems this plane then flew to LIL from MPL as HOP 3473 and returned to MPL as HOP 3474.

libhomeradar has the following:

2013/06/05 11:41 HO473XN - F-GRGG unknown airline E145
2013/06/05 13:41 HO474SA - F-GRGG unknown airline E145

The plane then flew back to SXB as HOP 3485. FlightRadar 24 shows F-GRGG as follows:

HO485ZI seen @ 2013-06-05 15:31 UTC

So I am confident that F-GRGG is the registration you are looking for despite the differences in call signs.

That´s it !
My "distant memory" confirms it´s the right one.

Thanks a lot !

Seems my research tactics need to get more sophisticated ...

You're welcome. Glad to be of help. I used FlightAware at first. There are only 21 E-145s flying for HOP so it didn't take that long, as F-GRGG is 7th in the list.

I quite enjoy doing reg detective work for myself and doing it for others here improves my knowledge of available sources.

It didn´t pop up in my mind to go the (exhausting) "opposite" way.
The highest obstacle was most likely the using of various different compositions of the flight number by HOP for the same flight.
Apparently only after using an unconventional trial-and error method the result was availlable.

Thanks again !
