I was lucky enough about five years ago to have Gulfstream International (CO Connection at the time) hold the last flight of the day for my wife and I when we were two hours late arriving TPA
due do weather at IAH
. We landed and the B1900D was sitting there with #2 engine running, they grabbed us from the gate, took us down to the ramp and off we went. The plane was full and we were the last two on. The other pax told us they waited for 25 minutes for us but no one cared as long as we bought them all drinks in EYW
One never knows what this UA
will do so they might just hold it if it's not too much of a delay, I'd call to let someone know as you may find a sympathetic agent who will have the guts to make it happen.
|Quoting TWA772LR (Reply 2):|
I'm not in flight ops but my mother is an agent and I work with UM's. UA will hold flights if it is a considerable ammount of people missing. I don't know the exact number, but I'd say it's at least in the 15-20 pax range. Hell, they won't even hold the plane for a UM even if it's the last flight of the day and the UM coordinator, red coat, and I call ahead!
Must be really special to be employed by this company, I know pilot friends who work for them that can't wait to retire this year.
