DY / EI /TK Or SQ - Train?

Mon Jun 24, 2013 10:39 pm

Hi,

I am taking a Transatlantic Cruise in November from Barcelona to the US.
I am looking for Options to fly back from New York to Berlin (21.NOV +/- 3 days)

Her are my options:

Singapore Airlines
nonstop to Frankfurt (A-380) for 335 Euros
But then I need to take Luftansa for 70 Euros onto Berlin or the Train (5 hours)
+ Lounge Access JFK due to Star Gold
+ A-380 Service
- only to Frankfurt
- no Miles due to low Booking Class

Norwegian Air Shuttle
New York/JFK - Stockholm - Copenhagen - Berlin ( 17 hours ) B-787 + B738
For 298 Euros
+ Dreamliner
- Long Journey Time
- No Lounge Access
- Bags?

Aer Lingus
New York/JFK - Dublin - Berlin/SXF (11 hours) A-333 + A-320
For 227 Euros
+ Cheapest Option
- No Lounge Access

Turkish Airlines
New York/JFK - Istanbul - Berlin (17 hours A330 or B77W + A-320)
For 358 Euros
+ Lounge Access
+ Miles
+ Extra Baggage Allowance
- Backtracking
- Long Flights

How are SQ / TK / DY and EI 's Service ?

Any other cheap Ideas?

Best Option?

The lounge in Istanbul is exceptional, and if you fly the 77W option still has their Comfort Class which is great to fly.

I see Icelandair has some cheap fares available via KEF & CPH.

If money is not a big issue and you want to make it really interesting, I recommend a stopover in either Iceland or on the Azores. Icelandair is well-known and SATA can get you from BOS to PDL for about $415 - and NYC to BOS is a joy on the Acela. PDL-TXL would, of course, cost extra - I have no idea how much.
Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

SQ's service is far above and beyond your other options.

I would probably go for the EI option since it's extremely cheap and pretty direct. And maybe a nice airline to try

You could also fly either Air India or Kuwait Airways from NYC to London and then buy a seperate ticket.

I would strongly recommend you to visit flug.idealo.de and put your dates here. You will see that STA travel offers special one way fares on BA at 380 EUR. And also ABC Travel Service, which I believe is popular with US Army members stationed in Germany offer pretty cheap KLM one ways at 240 EUR...

Not sure which ship you are on, but some cruise companies have cheap flight packages for transatlantics. Might be an option too, and if they have a friendly air department you may always ask for a special routing that suits your needs...
