Advice On Miles Run

Mon Jul 01, 2013 2:48 pm

Hi everyone,

My flyingblue miles are going to expire in March next year, but obviously I'd like to keep 'm. In order to do so, I have to make a flight before that date. There's still some time left, but I have time in the next 6 weeks to do this. Does anyone know a trick/website/whatever to get a cheap one-way flight, or better a same-day return on a Skyteam carrier? Points of departure are AMS, DUS or BRU.

If you are looking for an interesting routing, what about:

KL 2457 AMS to LCY 1050-1105h RJ85 102 €
train to Southend
SEN AMS U2 8881 1900-2115h 87 €
two oneway tickets

If to any destination a oneway ticket or a same-day return is much more expensive than a return ticket (keeping Sunday rule in mind), then why not just book the return leg at some later date and just no-show it ?

A return ticket DUS-AMS-DUS on 08-AUG/15-AUG shows at 144 €.
Fly only the leg on 08-AUG and you get your desired FB miles.
All this, of course, if getting out to DUS but back from Schiphol is no problem for you.
If you really feel like it you still can use the return section of your ticket.

So many options ...

KL/AF are showing one way fares of € 69 (taxes/fees included) on many AMS-LCY flights on some random dates I checked in September and October. Find a cheap fare back to AMS on EasyJet from another airport such as SEN. Lowest fare SEN-AMS I could find for mid-September was equivalent to around € 35.

You wouldn't mind sharing those dates would you? There's a week in October that I have time in too... The LCY/SEN option is an interesting one.
