Frontier A319 Doors: Highlighted

Tue Aug 13, 2013 1:33 am

I was pretty sure I had asked this question before, but I cannot find it. (Mods, if you can find it, please delete this and direct me to the previous thread, if it exists. Also, I am not really sure if this belongs here or in tech/ops. Thanks)

Back to my question.

I have been on several A319s and A320s, and F9 is the ONLY operator I have seen so far that "highlights" the assist handles to their doors.

Can anybody explain to me why they do that?

Actually , they mirror the same procedures As USAirways used to practice when it comes to Airbus doors. We used to highlight our assist handles as well . We still have the ARMED placard across the Slide Arming lever and that red strap you see is placed across the door handle when the slide is engaged. We also use to have that red pin you see covering the arming lever. USAirways ended that procedure when it merged with America West. Frontier worked together with USAirways when they first got the Airbus and adopted similar Airbus procedures as USAirways at the time.
