I have booked flights FRA > JFK > FRA with Singapore Airlines on their Airbus A380 for next May, i.e. 2015. A long way off, I know, but I am excited already - I've never flown The Whale before. During the booking process, I was surprised at the limited choice of seats available for booking (upper deck wasn't an option) but I suppose it is very early days and perhaps FRA>JFK may be operated by V2 of the A380, with biz class only on the upper deck. In the end, we secured seats in row 41 H/J/K but really, I wanted to be seated on the upper deck as I got the impression that that might be more of an experience.
Looking at the pictures on airliners.net, I get the feeling that sitting on the upper deck may just be like riding an A330 with the 2 x 4 x 2 configuration, rather than 3 x 4 x 3 on the main deck. Therefore:
Is it really worth trying to secure seats on the upper deck?
Are there any other clear advantages of being on the upper deck?
Thanks in advance and best regards
