AA Embargoes Pass Travel For WN Employees

Sat Jul 05, 2014 10:38 pm

Southwest currently has an embargo in place for non-revenue travel to their international destinations, even for their own employees. Effective July 4th, AA has embargoed travel between the US and the Caribbean for WN employees and their eligible pass riders. Effective November, AA will further embargo non-rev travel between US and Mexico. Delta and United are expected to follow suit.

WN states the embargo will remain in place until they migrate to a single reservation system for domestic and international travel. MyIDtravel also does not talk to their new international res system, Amadeus.

Whoops. lol

Makes sense From AA's standpoint. Hope WN nonrevs have some decent back up plans out of the Carribean.

Rather bizarre for them (AA) to make further embargoes beginning in Nov, as the WN embargo will end in Nov.

Sole reason for it in the first place was to give front line employees time to become familiar with the nuances of intl travel/psgrs, before overloading them with non-revs.
