DL Economy Comfort offers increase seat pitch of about 4" and about 4" of additional recline. The meal service is the same, and although it doesn't appear to be an incentive for you, full bar service is complimentary. Free beer and wine is offered throughout Y. A hot dinner and full hot breakfast is served, plus frequent beverage runs and snack items available throughout the flight in a galley area. I find the DL
F/A's from the LAX
base very personable and professional.
is a long 14+hours overnight in the dark until the sunrise arrival in SYD
. If you routinely sleep on long haul flights you might consider a window seat to lean up against the sidewall. Each seat will have a blanket and pillow. Aisle access gives you the flexibility to get up and out if you're more restless. In seat entertainment is good, but you'll find once dinner service is over the cabin settles down for the long night of flying, and sometimes it can be bumpy for sustained periods of time.
I personally spend the extra for EC
on long haul international. The seats are all the same blue leather that become a bit hard after a couple hours so I actually sit on the blanket and use the pillow in the lower part of my back, recline a bit and can stretch my legs out under the seat in front of me. I use my own bring-along travel pillow that I attach to my carry-on bag using a dog collar. The other advantage I find is that you're in the forward part of the Y cabin and walk off to a quicker process with customs and immigration.
That's about it in a nutshell. I can easily spend your $ for an ugrade, and suggest you consider it for some of the points I've noted above, but you're accustomed to frequent air travel and know what fits best to your liking. I hope you enjoy your flight and trip to this fantastic city and country.
watch what you want. you may get it.
