"Expliseat, a French startup company that produces aircraft seats, is offering a lightweight economy-class seat for the Boeing 737. Expliseat seats can be found in some Airbus A320 and ATR 42/72 cabins. The titanium-composite 737 seat, dubbed TiSeat E2, is 60% lighter than the competition, Expliseat said. Its weight per passenger stands at 5 kg (11 lb.)."

WHich airlines use the Expliseat on the A320 family of aircraft and ATR 42/72s.

They look very similar to the Recaro slimline seats used by some airlines.

I suppose it’s worth it long term, considering the fuel savings.

Are those the strange looking bench seats on Air Mediterranee A320s?

Titanium-composite, so not entirely titanium.

1.7 tons of weight savings for the plane is massive. Big fuel savings over time.

Are they looking at carbon fibre? It's cheaper and just as strong and light, though I'm not sure of its flammable properties.

going in to spicejet 737 and q400 planes

1300kg saving for 737, 400kg on the Q400 which will be a 90 seater plane.
I'd guess in hot(and maybe high) Indian airports every kg counts despite how expensive titanium might be.

I'm curious what do they mean by Titanium composite.

Titanium powder mixed with resin?
Titanium strands mixed with resin?
3d printed titanium?

You've got
Glass fibre matting
Carbon fibre matting
Kevlar fibre matting

Is this Titanium fibre matting?

The pictures if the seats make them look like benches with big flat panels so it could be a sandwich, could be foam or a honeycomb or lots of different things, lots of inspiration to take from the MRI industry on this one, they have some very interesting load cases.
There is more to composites than reinforced resins :wink2:

How comfortable are these seats--how do they compare to the competition?
