Laptop Power Ports

Sun May 14, 2000 2:05 pm

I was just reading through the post about the internet on aircraft.

That got me thinking... I heard something about airlines installing laptop power ports on their aircraft.

Are they doing this? Who's doing this? Is it going to be every seat?

... or do we still have to bring 3 fully charged batteries with us when we want to go from LAX to Beijing?

I know that Delta is doing this on all new aircraft and retrofitting some old ones as well. All seats will have the so called "Empower" outlets. I imagine all of the majors will have this in the near future.

Yes, most of the major airlines are doing this on there wide body aircraft. AAL 777's have them on all B/C and F/C seats while in select rows in E/C seats. SIA has them on all of there 747 F/C and B/C too. PC power has been a big trend recently with most of the international carriers but it also tends to be a technical nightmare with certifying the A/C and also the fact that there are really only one, maybe 2 major players that provide these type of PC powers systems. One of which is Primex.
