Heres a link to a website with a pic of the VORTAC at CVG: http://www.xuser.com/~daled/navaids/cvgvor.htm

The same site has pics of NDB stations, go to this url (http://www.xuser.com/~daled/navaids/ndb.htm), scroll all of the way down, and click on one of the NDBs. You will get a pic. Interesting looking, arent they?

Amazigly enough I think I saw those NBDs also. Except I know where they are! If you take I-17 North Out Of Phoenix And Right At Black Cannon City You Take An Exit Off And Go North Right Beside The Freeway. A few miles up you see I think about 8 towers in a low valley with fence around em odd thing is half the fence is wood and half is chain link. I believe this is them they look a tad like the MDE NBD & The LUK NBD. Anyone seen either of these sightings??

Since you are in Phoenix it is REALLY is to see the Phoenix Vortac antenna. As you go east from Sky Harbor along the 202 freeway you look off to your left you will see a large white round antena sitting on the opposite side of the riverbed. That is the PXR VORTAC antenna. It just looks like a giant white omnidirectional antenna. If you want to get closer to it, just head down Rio Salado Pkwy and you can get close to it.

There are not any NDBs up at Black Canyon City however. In the valley there are NDB's at Scottsdale, Falcon, Chandler, and Glendale. So if you wander around at either of those airports you might be able to find it. Though I don't know what it would look like.

I'm sure these wern't cell phone towers becuase those got those boxes comming out of every wich way. These were a fairly tall tower and at the top it was in the shape of a circle.

Hmmm... damned if I know what they are, but I do know there aren't any NDB's located up in that neck of the woods. Check out http://www.airnav.com to search and the navaids in Arizona.

Hmmm.. Ok
Well If Your Ever Up There Try To Get A Look At Em You Can Also See Em From I-17 when your heading south although don't look if your driving becuase it is where you start to go downhill on the curvey part!

I have also been very interested in what navaids look like. Here is some more sites to check our. The VOR's in Europe look very different from the ones in North America. You can see some of them here http://www.avsim.com/mp/gallery.html There are many NDB pictures at http://web.ionsys.com/~magnum/longwave/pict.htm One of my pictures of the "J" beacon at Halifax should be uploaded to that page anyday now. Also check http://www.homeautomator.com/jeff/vors.htm There are many pictures of VORTACs there.
