AA 737-800

Wed Sep 13, 2000 5:40 am

Could anyone tell me if American Airlines uses Heads Up Displays (HUD) on its 737-800s.

Additionally, which American domiciles are American's 737-800 pilots currently based at? Does American fly any 737-800 flights out of DFW or have any plans to do so in the near future?

Thanks for any information.

I believe AA is test the HUD in one of the 737.

No plan's yet for DFW to get 737.....

As for the pilot base - ORD/MIA/BDL/BOS are my guess's but I'll look in to it on wednesday at work

Pilot Bases: LAX, SFO, ORD, BOS, MIA with DCA starting this month. LGA is expected to open by year end and DFW is rumored possibility in early 2001 (it will be only base without 737 pilots by then).

HUD: still in certification phase for low visibility approaches. Most of the original aircraft have been retrofitted with HUD. All future 737s will come with HUD installed at Boeing. FAA certification for what AA calls the "Lower Minimums Program" is a very long and tedious process which is estimated at about 50% complete.
