According to the Boeing web site Aebal, Hawaiian & Turkmenistan have ordered the B717 this year.
Air Tran was the launch operator of course.
Impulse operate them on the east coast of Australia.

Don't forget TWA and Air Bancock. Also Olympic Airways has a few via a leasing company. To date no planes have been delivered to Hawaiian.

I read a post today that YX (I think that is Midwest Express, but for all I know it could be Aeroflot) would replac etheir DC-9's with 717s. That was a rumor, but it makes sense. I have no idea why AA chose the 737-800 rather than launch a bigger 717 to replace the 727 and MD-80 et cetera.

AA's Choice

It is simple really...you could not take a 717 and fly it from ORD-SEA or from BDL-ORD-LAX without a number ot stops in between. Lets just say there is a 717-300 created, pushing 150' in length nose-to-tail. That would still be outclassed in capacity and range by a 738. AA was growing and needed growing plans.

As for YX in 717s...hope to see them flying over the eastside of MKE on approach very soon.
