Hi, I was wondering why the USAF would re-engine the B52H with a non american RB.211 engine when the PW2037, 2040 or 2043 would be a fine replacement & is designed and built in the US. What is exactly wrong with the PW2000 series engines? I mean, Delta, United, Northwest & TWA bought ALOT of 757's with this engine. I know that UPS & Condor used to use the PW2000 on their 757's then switched to the RB211. If the PW2000 series are that bad that even the USAF does not want them, who would. I have even heard that the PW2040 was not the engine that the USAF wanted on the C-17, but finally chose it because it was an american engine. I am fully aware that the RB211 would be built in the US by allison for the B52 re-engining, if this really does take place. I guess P&W days are numbered .
