River Approach/DCA

Wed Jan 03, 2001 3:29 am

Hello all,

Anyone out there able to tell me a little more about the River Approach to Runway 18 at DCA? I know it is a DME approach with a tight turn at about 200 ft. Thanks!

Oldman...

Not flying it. I have always been curious as to how the approach was flown. It has always looked tricky to me.

I gave a little description of this approach. It was on 12/2. Just do a search.

Thanks DC-9CAPT...

One question...I thought the runway headings were 18-36 at DCA? Have they been changed?

Years ago I saw a National 727 land from the east on Rwy 18. He cut his base right at the edge of the restricted area and his short final was all of 1/8th of a mile...it was something to see.

Thanks!
