Qantas flew their first 744 LHR-SYD non stop - i think they had about 20 pax on board and a heap of extra fuel. They developed special fuel for the trip. I think it was around 12500 miles or so!

Few further details I've found (in a book):

- 17840 km / 9633 NM
- 20h10min flight time
- 23 pax
- 4 Captains
- takeoff time: 0913 LOC (LHR)
- landing time: 0523 LOC (LHR)
- prevailing winds... TAILWINDS !  Laugh out loud

Can't find the age of the skipper, sorry...
