Emergency Descent Rates Questions

Pilots, if you had to make an emergency descent from cruise level on ,say, a 737, to a nearby airport : what maximum descent rate could you have, would it change throughout the descent? if yes, crossing what flight levels? what maximum descent rate could you have below 10,000 feet? 5000?...

Also would you make use of speed brakes during this descent? From which altitude and down to which altitude?

"Could" seems to be the operative word in your question. All the airliners I've flow _can_ descend at much greater than 6,000 feet per minute (that's as high as the guages display). 10-12,000 fpm is probably a good high-end estimate. There are no standard altitudes as everything is dependent upon nature of emergency, condition of aircraft and terrain in local area.

1.Aircraft damaged or not? (speed)
2.Spoilers are used.
3.Descent to 10.000ft or min safe if higher.
4.Reduce rate at least 2000ft before level off and enter spoilers.
5.An emergency descent is usually performed because of (rapid) decompression so no need for emerg. desc. below 10.000ft.
6.IVSI out of scale must be around 10.000 (or more)ft/min.
