Economics Of Wide-bodies

Sat Apr 14, 2001 11:40 am

I was wondering if anybody could tell me what wide-bodied planes are most economical to run comapred to each other. What would you compare the A330 to?
Suggestive comparison:

It is impossible to compare the economics of the A340-500/600 and the B777-200/300 for the mere fact that neither of the Airbuses have yet generated a single penny in revenues for an airline.

A330-200/767-400 is valid, maybe HB-IWC would know...?

People in this forum usually compare
A333 vs B772
A343 vs B772er
in the near future i think it would be
A345 vs B772LR
A346 vs B73LR
ps. no A vs B war, rite?

Comparing the A340 and B777.

From what I have read (mostly on these forums), the A340 will burn a little less fuel on long haul flights. The difference is very small. Because the A340 is designed to be operated strictly as a long haul plane, it may well be true.

Regarding maintenance issues I would think the twin engined 777 would be cheaper.

Its a good question Donder10. It will be interesting to hear the responses of others who may have access to performance data of these a/c.

Certainly other factors will be considered. Routes, engines etc.

Thats all I know. However, I could be wrong!

A330-200 Vs B767-400.

Take a look at the site below, there is some technical data on these planes. It may help answer some of your questions.
