How Hot Do The Breaks Get On The 747...

Wed Apr 25, 2001 5:27 am

A question to pilots i guess.
How hot do the breaks get on the 747-400 on landing?
I khow if you have the gear synoptic page displayed you get the numbers 0-9 displayed but how do these numbers relate to temp?
if anyone can help it would be much appreciated,
and just another quick one. Do the carbon or steel brake types get hotter? and if so by how much hotter?
Smile thanks guys for your help.
regds tuffty.

Looking at my course notes all I can tell you is that at an indicated level 5 equates to 482 Degs C at which point the indication changes fron white to amber to indicate brake overheat. Ths actual temp is indicated on the Gear Maint page.
