B737 Fuel Tanks.

Mon Jul 02, 2001 1:44 pm

Is there any particular reason that part of the B737NGs Wing tank area is used as the centre tank compared to the -200s.Thereby increasing ctr tank capacity.centre tank fuel will be utilized first so whats the point.
Why don't the Wing tank start from the wing root.thereby reducing the centre tank capacity.

They made the center tank larger to increase range. The wing tanks are larger also, they just start further outboard. Keep in mind that the NG has a larger wing than the older models..JT
