Lights On The B777s

Sat Sep 08, 2001 5:39 pm

Hi everyone,

Could anyone explain to me how the lights on the B777s work? I know there are 3 bright lights, one at the end of each wing and one at the tip of the APU. Which switches control them? From flight simulator, those lights come one only when the tail light is turned on. Is it true? And, what are the wing lights and runway turn-off lights?

Thanks a lot

Mr.Ba,

As from our visit on 9V-SYB, the three distinct lights are controlled by the tail lights  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Thanks. But I see those 3 distinct lights even in the day, which means they turn on their logo lights in the day too? Which are the runway-turnoff and wing lights? Thanks a lot

The logo lights are seperate from the nav lights, which are what you are describing. The nav light switch control the red and green lights on the wingtips, the constant white lights on the wingtips and the constant white light at the tip of the APU. The beacon switch control the 2 flashing red beacons on the top and bottom the of the fuselage. The wing switch controls the wing illumination lights, which illuminate the leading edge of the wing. There's also a taxi light switch, which controls the taxi light on the nose gear, 3 seperate landing light switches (left wing, nose gear, right wing). There are 2 runway turnoff switches, which control the respective runway turn off lights, used after landing. The logo light switch controls only the two lights in the horizontal stabiliser which illuminate the fin. These lights are only used at night/dawn/dusk, not in the day.
