MCD's

Sat Oct 13, 2001 1:31 am

Evening guys, is it just the Master MCD that gets done on line A checks or do they all get done and can you inform me about the same for the Hyd system aswell, and can you employ line mechanics without JAR 66 A license anymore, if not why? and the blokes who dont have licenses on the line for MAEL are mostly ex RAF, so they need to get one, Yes/no?,
cheers guys

I think that MCD question depends on what airline is doing the check and how they laid out in their maintenance exposition that they would do their checks.

Whatever the authorities/manufacturers say should be done on a check is just the minimum work to be done to satisfy ICAO requirements. If an airline/MRO organisation decides to rip out the entire cockpit during an A check then it is up to them, so long as they do what is required by law.

i am in the middle of a JAR course, and as far as i can tell, you can still employ someone who doesn´t have a JAR 66 but in 2011, anyone who doesn´t have the 66 can not work on planes.....sad......but national grandfather rights still apply for the moment....

to be honest mate the mcd's are checked whenever the operator wishes to do so in their maintenance schedule. as long as the check that they perform meets the criteria laid down by the governing bodies they are ok. most of the time the master mcd are checked where i work on an a check, with the rest being done on majors or at other set intervals. the hydraulic ones are checked upon system faults or component failure that may be caused or cause debris in the system.
