Privatley it is quite expensive to fly choppers, about $200/hour for an R22 and about $400/hour for its four place equivalent, the R44. I would suggest the Army National Gaurd. They have a great program where you receive turbine time but are required to serve part time for eight years. So if your not up for any of the commitement then stay private, but it will cost a pretty penny to go all the way from zero time to instrument, commercial, etc. Any other questions, feel free to ask. Thanks

I've heard it's about twice as much to learn to fly one as it is for an airplane. My CFI is taking lessons right now and says it's pretty fun and well worth the money though.

Is the reason that choppers are so loud is the tips of the blades actually pass/approach the speed of sound?
The meaning of life is curiosity; we were put on this planet to explore opportunities.

thanks for you replies everyone, First of all lehpron Most helicopter blades stay below that speed the helicpter I fly goes about 400-450 thats the flapping in the wind of the blades But the Dolphin helicopter (coast guard) which has its tail rotor does thats why I think they call it that becuase it sounds like one, I know flying choppers are exspensive I have about 50 hours in one now.
Just need extra advice what the best direction is far as flying helicopters.
And I have herd that it is twice as much to get your ratting in r-22 cause its not quite like a reall chopper

And I was going to go to military for helicopters but you have to have a perfect score in oreder to fly. And I already have spent $10 thousand on helicopter already. Did not want to ened up going in military and find out can not make it and end up sweeping hangers out for 5 years.
