VFR Pilots

Are VFR certified pilots allow to fly over large bodies of water such as oceans, large lakes?
Teenage-know-it-alls should be shot on sight

Yes. They just have to remain below 18,000 feet and stay clear of the clouds. The visibility has to be better than 3 miles, sometimes 5 miles.

Absolutelly!

I am currently reading a book on long distance flying in small GA airplanes, the author is Peter Garisson (a Flying contributor) who have flow to Japan and to Ireland in his homebuild single engine airplane. I'm not sure if he did the US - Japan in one shot, but he definitelly flew from Gander NS to Ireland in one leg. Very interesting.

Yes you can but there are certian restrictions that you must follow. First you must have life vests and survival equipment for all those on board the aircraft. If there are not complyed to you can fly over water you just have to stay within gliding distance of shore.
At worst, you screw up and die.
