What is the reason for a DC3 having a long nose.Whats the Equipment behind it.

I think that was the old RCAF survey aircraft.

I belive that it had magnetic field detection gear onboard.
OBAMA-WORST PRESIDENT EVER....Even SKOORB would be better.

That a/c (there were two) had the CF-104 radar system in it for training pilots. This one is Pinochio, the other was called Mollys Folly. I have flown on this a/c, as they were based at CFB Cold Lake. They were also used twice a week to transport people to Edmonton for medical appointments, or shopping, whatever. Pretty cold in the winter, I can tell you!

Has that thing been struck by lightning?? It seems to me, with a pointed nose like that, it acts as a perfect lightning attachment point.

Those concrete blocks the mounts are in probably add a bit of resistance between the aircraft and ground I'd say...
