New Type Prototypes

Thu Apr 11, 2002 11:49 pm

Why do most prototype planes drag what looks like a piece of wire, with something attached to it, from the top of their fins? And what is it?

If most prototype planes do it, I'm not sure. But it is quite common during flight testing to have a probe wire trailing behind the aircraft to acquire air data in the aircraft's wake.
