Where To Sit On A 737-800

Thu Apr 18, 2002 8:51 pm

Is it quieter in front of..or in back of the wing on a 737-800? I flew an Airbus 320 in March, and it was noisy as hell in FRONT of the wing. Behind it on the way back...quiet as a mouse...and it was the same plane..registration number to prove it! Will I get the same results when I fly the 737-800 my next trip?

If you want quitet on a 738 get a seat toward the rear of the plane. Up front isnt as bad on the 738 as it doesnt make that whinny buzz sound like the A320 or 752 if you are in front of the engine.

I flew on the 738 last month and i was sitting in row 7- just in front of the left engine. I certainly DID hear the whiny buzz noise especially when take-off power was applied, and also during the climbout. During the cruise however the noise disappeared.

The whinny sound on the airbus drove me crazy from EWR to PUJ. We fly to AUA every August on a 737-800, and I prefer a quieter seat!!! I THOUGHT the noise would be the same on the 737. Thanks

That sound in the 738 isnt as buzzy as the 320 or 752. of course its their just not as prevelant. the rear isa your best bet.

the whieny buzz sound is the sexiest sound in the world... nothing like a DC-10 to give it to you, on a seirous note I would rather sit where I hear engine noise then wind noise... the 717 is soo quiet in first class but u hear the airflow whcich is cxed by the sound of the engines
