SXM, Actual Runway Length

Sat Sep 07, 2002 11:50 am

I thought it was 7,056 feet, but that was a airport chart I read over a year ago. According the latest Airways magazine article I read, it indicates the runway is 7,535 feet. Does that include an overrun area that wouldn't normally be used? Is there a displaced threshold at SXM? I realize this might be petty for some, but when you handle 747s from this short runway on a regular basis, I would think every foot of extra concrete would make a difference. Just curious.
