Williams Engines On The CJ-1

Wed Sep 18, 2002 11:30 am

The company I work for is picking up 2 new Cessna CJ-1's to do medevac work with. These come with the William's Rolls engines on them...which I will have to admit to currently know nothing about other than watching them blow things up in the Gulf War. So, anyone out there with some operational experience want to let a guy know what to expect...the good the bad???
Thanks

I'd check the various forums on the NBAA website for specifics. All I know about them is what I've read there. From what I hear, they have a pretty good history - just a few warts like any other engine. Personally, I'd never trust any engine that was only designed to make a one-way trip.  Innocent

I talked to the reps at the NBAA convention in Orlando. They make all kinds of claims like any other manufacturer would. I want to hear from someone that is already operating them. They have a big downside...1500 hour hots and 3000 TBO. Not a real big selling point as we can easily fly 1200 to 1300 a year per aircraft. Anybody here ever been up close and personal with the new CJ's?
