ATR-42 Autopilot

Tue Jan 28, 2003 9:01 am

I've just been looking at some ATR cockpit shots here on A.net and noticed that there is an IAS button on the glareshield, but I was under the impression that the ATR didn't have autothrottle,

Also, can anyone tell me where the heading select knob is for the ATR autopilot.

Thanks,
Gordon

The ATR IAS mode uses pitch to maintain the airspeed, up to slower and down to go faster. The power must be adjusted by hand with the power levers. IAS mode is used in climbs and a limited amount in decents, but not in level flight.

The heading bug is located on the glaresheild below the number one nav... it is the right hand knob.

Holy cow does that picture bring up memories.

It kinda looks like the detachable flap lockout is in upside down. Might be the angle though.

And it looks like the parking brake accumulator might be bleeding down...and the duct tape on the columns looks real nice. On the plus side though the anti skid tape on the rudder pedals looks nice and new.
