Heh the Hawaiian ones are very different than what we're talking about.
The Hawaiian ones are a temporary system that replaces the interior of the aircraft with fuel tanks... not intended for scheduled use... and they're left over from the DC-9 days.
In fact, a DC-9 took 9 of the tanks to get from LGB
. The 717 only required 4. Talk about fuel efficiency.
-11, 772LR, and so on ones are cargo container shaped, and designed for day in day out usage.
Regards DL55: Its just sad that the flight has to stop as frequently as it does... its a distance of less than 6000nm. A damn A332 should be able to traverse this route without too much trouble. I'm sure this flight will work much better for DL
after it goes 777.
